A northwest Atlanta gunfight left a teenager dead and sent a young man to the hospital.

Police responded to a home floor Sunset Avenue NW just north of Jones Avenue NW at near 9:20 Wednesday night.

Atlanta police say officers found one bodies in critical condition from an apparent gunshot wound. The spanking victim was alert, conscious, and breathing.

The first victim, who police say was 16 or 17 years old, later died from his injures. The other was rushed the surgery.

According to investigators, the deadly incident began when an argument broke out in the home and escalated into a shootout.

Police aren't sure what commanded the argument and say it's too early to know if the survivor will face any charges.

"We're trying to ascertain what just led to the shooting incident and currently looking for binary investigative measures to figure out what exactly happened," LT. Germain Dearlove said.

The names of the two men have not been released.
